Governance and operations

The AIGDD organises its activities within a chain of responsibility linking institutional guidelines, the resources mobilised, the conduct of operations and the evaluation of results.

The AIGDD organises its activities within a chain of accountability linking institutional guidelines, the resources mobilised, the conduct of operations and the evaluation of results. This structure brings together steering, expertise, implementation and methodological oversight in order to ensure sound decision-making and maintain the traceability of commitments.

Governance and operations

Our approach

Each mission is framed in accordance with the priorities, responsibilities and capacities of the institution concerned, as well as the commitments agreed with the partners involved in the intervention. The AIGDD structures the framework, clarifies roles, organises coordination and puts in place the mechanisms necessary to steer implementation and monitor results.

The operational framework is tailored to the nature, scale and context of the intervention. It may include formalised procedures, steering bodies, reporting mechanisms, information systems, monitoring and evaluation arrangements, and regular reviews. The consolidated information supports the identification of gaps, the implementation of corrective measures and the continuity of interventions until responsibilities are transferred and the achievements are consolidated.

Our governance

The Directorate-General is responsible for the strategic and operational management of the Agency, the implementation of its policies and its representation in dealings with partner institutions.

The International Strategic Committee helps to define the Agency’s broad strategic direction, review its priorities and monitor its institutional performance.

The Scientific and Technical Council ensures the quality of standards, methods, tools and technical outputs. It contributes to monitoring, innovation and the continuous improvement of the AIGDD’s practices.

The specialised operational units design and implement support missions, management systems, evaluations, methodological tools and digital solutions. The network of experts complements this framework by drawing on multidisciplinary expertise tailored to the sectors, countries and specific requirements of each intervention.

The AIGDD’s affiliation with the World Development Association fosters complementarity with the WDA’s other specialised structures, programmes and mechanisms, whilst respecting the specific responsibilities of each entity.
